LET'S ROCK!
a GUILTY GEAR 25th zine

An open-submission fanzine honoring Guilty Gear's 25th anniversary.

FAQ

> What is this zine about?
This zine will be a fan anthology dedicated to the past, present and future of Guilty Gear, meant to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
> What does "Open-Submission" mean?
If you've worked in literary magazines before, you might recall that they accept content through a submission form to include in their magazine!
We're doing the same for this fanzine! We're interested in hearing from all kinds of Guilty Gear fans. If you're interested in sharing your experience with the series through art, writing and cosplay, you can send it our way.> Will this zine be physical or digital? Is it for profit?
This zine will be free and available online for digital download. This is, for all intents and purposes, a passion project of mine that I wish to share with as many people as possible.
> Can I use my artwork outside of the zine?
Once the zine is publicly available, you are more than welcome to use your artwork for personal or commercial use. Please refrain from posting your full pieces online until after this date.
> What do you mean by 'layout page'?
Layout pages combine art with text elements and other assets in a cohesive design. If you have art that you want to submit but it's sketchy, messy or too small to fit on a full page, you have the option to offer it to be arranged and edited by our layout team!
> What's with the artist page specs?
The non-standard page layout is meant to emulate the dimensions of a record sleeve (around 12 by 12 inches).
To learn more about how the zine's layout will look, you can view our design brief here.> Do you have any prior zine experience?
Your head mod, Jay, has been involved in fanzines since 16. I’ve participated in a handful of FFXV-related zine, including a zine I modded about the women of the FF series. I have also self-produced a personal zine for class about food and identity!

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

WE ARE OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS!

In honor of the 25th anniversary of Guilty Gear, this issue is themed "A Future to Strive For". Rather than just compiling fanart and fanfics (which is still more than welcome!), I'd like to build a people's history of the franchise which includes non-fiction and personal stories from the perspective of Guilty Gear players. We are looking for the following content:
- Fanart (traditional, digital, experimental, etc)
- Written fiction pieces (general SFW fanfics, poems, etc.)
- Written non-fiction pieces (personal essays, history of the meta, interviews, etc.)
- Cosplay photography
- Mixed media and collage

FOR ARTISTS:

  • 1 full page: 2100 by 2100 pixels, 300 DPI, RGB color profile

  • 2 page spread: 2100 by 4200 pixels, 300 DPI, RGB

  • Layout Pieces: You can also submit miscellaneous transparent art pieces that won't fit on a full page. 2100 by 2100 pixels or under, 300 DPI, RBG.

  • If you want to submit traditional art, make sure you send in a clean scan that is formatted to fit the dimensions provided.

FOR WRITERS:

  • Written pieces must be between 500 to 2000 words long. Please adhere to the word count, it's a wide range for a reason!

  • Submit your piece in a .DOCX file, 12-point and a clear font (Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman, etc.)

  • If you are submitting an essay that involves research, include a list of references. This is not included as part of the word count.

Do not send in:
- NSFW or explicit content. (We understand that there are suggestive elements in the series and review submissions on a case by case basis. In general though, no sexual content.)
- Excessive gore/violence
- Shipping/romance centered pieces (That being said, character interactions and explorations are greatly encouraged!)
- Heavy AU and canon-divergence.
For non-fiction: While you can certainly make references to your experiences with other fighting games, the main focus must be relevant to Guilty Gear specifically. And most importantly: There is zero tolerance for any racist, homophobic, transphobic or generally insensitive imagery. If your content fails to meet any of the outlined criteria, it will not be included in the final product. The mods reserve the right to not include content at their own discretion.
